An Instagram story posted by Travis Head is doing the rounds on social media. Head reposted an AI-generated video from an account named The 28 Year Old Male, which shows a shocked Temba Bavuma looking down on Josh Hazlewood dancing in a nightclub. The score from Australia’s dominant victory, plus Hazlewood’s career best figures, are featured on the reel.

Fans respond to Travis Head story about Temba Bavuma after first Test

It wasn’t long before the passionate South Africa fanbase responded. While the first Test in Durban this time around was nowhere near as fiesty as the 2018 series, Proteas fans are hoping for this series to transpire the same way it did eight years ago.

“Like ABD (AB de Villiers) told the boys in the changing room after our heavy defeat to Australia in 2018 where Lyon dropped the ball on him: “We not going to get embarrassed like that at home” I need that same type of energy from the boys starting Sunday!!” wrote one South Africa fan on X (formerly Twitter).

Good of Head to put them in the ‘World Test Championship Finalists’ kit. We all know how that one turned out.

Weird behaviour from Travis Head. There’s still 2 tests left. The test series isn’t won yet. https://t.co/I1nNB5roO3 pic.twitter.com/ttEDvsorwN

Travis Head might have jumped the gun a little, but I love the added spice! After that defeat, this should give the @ProteasMenCSA some serious motivation heading into the next two games.

South Africa were well beaten in the first Test, but they have the ability to bounce back. A strong start in the second Test at Gqeberha is a must, and Kagiso Rabada’s likely return is sure to help.

“It is disappointing,” Bavuma said after the Durban defeat. “It’s not the way you want to start a series, any kind of series, let alone just against a top outfit like Australia.

“No one is happy in that changeroom, looking at the result that has played out.”
