Big Blow for Australia ahead of Champions Trophy 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Australia suffered a major blow ahead of the upcoming ICC Men\u2019s Champions Trophy 2025 as key all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of the eight-team event due to a back injury.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The injury setback for the 33-year-old was announced by Cricket Australia (CA), because of the worsening of a back issue he had during the summer at home.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMarsh has been ruled out of the upcoming ICC Men\u2019s Champion\u2019s Trophy with ongoing lower back pain and dysfunction,\u201d CA said in a statement today.<\/p>\n<p>According to CA, Marsh was ruled out from the forthcoming event by the Australian men\u2019s medical team and the National Selection Panel due to an injury that has not improved enough with therapy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe National Selection Panel and Australian men\u2019s medical team ruled Marsh out of the Champions Trophy with the injury which has not responded sufficiently to rehabilitation.<\/p>\n<p>His lower back pain flared in recent weeks leading the NSP to make the longer term decision for Marsh to complete a more extended period of rehabilitation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMitchell Marsh will now undergo a period of further rest and rehabilitation as part of his return to play plan,\u201d CA stated<\/p>\n<p>Marsh went through a difficult home season where he lost his Test place to Beau Webster for the final match against India at the SCG.<\/p>\n<p>The all-rounder made 73 runs in seven innings and performed a limited role with the ball during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
