Her numbers in the 50 overs format were also quite similar, having to wait 5 years for her maiden fifty. Once she scored her maiden fifty, her individual scores also started to improve, she started scoring runs upwards of 30 quite consistently.
Since the start of 2022, Sidra has played 16 games, amassing a whopping 737 runs, at an incredible average of 52.64 and a strike rate of 75.35. Sidra in her 12 years long career has 3 centuries to her name, all coming after the start of 2022.
In the recently concluded T20I series against South Africa in Pakistan, Sidra was her country’s top scorer and overall the 3rd highest run scorer of the series. She scored a total of 133 runs at an average of 44.33 and a strike rate of 116.66. Her consistent knack for scoring runs in the ODIs has meant that she gets the deserved chances in the shortest format off late, and as things stand, she has taken it with both hands.
“I used to get selected in the T20I squads, but I could not make the most of those chances in the past. I have been a regular part of the ODI Squad and I used it to build my momentum for the T20Is. I think, I am still learning and there is still room for improvement. For now, I just want to give the best possible start to my team, no matter what the format is,” said Sidra Amin to The New Indian Express.
Pakistan has just played 17 international matches in the last 8 years, but now things are going to change, with South Africa playing a 3-match ODI series, which is commencing on 8th September. After the series, Pakistan is set to host Sri Lanka and Ireland for the limited-overs series.
